Lisa Popovitch, Age 61, of Tarpon Springs, FL, formerly of Carle Place, NY passed away February 15, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. Beloved partner of Ericka Miller, Lisa is survived by her mother Mary Lou Moran, father, T. Kenneth Moran and brothers Kenny (Jenni) Moran and Andrew (Sonya) Moran.  She is also survived by nieces Julia and Kendasia, and nephew Kyle Moran.  Lisa was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Popovitch, with surviving step-children, Michele Falsafi (Ricky) and Peter Popovitch.

Lisa graduated from Carle Place High School where she was President of the AFS, a foreign exchange program for students. Her classmates voted her “Unsung Hero” for all she had done for her class and the school.

Lisa was especially devoted to Julia and Kyle, her niece and nephew. She would take time off from work to spend the day with them.  Growing up, many a weekend were spent sailing with the family. Lisa was an adventurous shipmate who delighted in the thrill of making the boat heel up to feel the spray of the water.

Throughout her life, Lisa was concerned about the plight of the less fortunate and spent much of her time devoted to various charities.  She volunteered with the Suicide Prevention Hotline, and Donate Life.  She was also sponsor of her church’s youth group, helping the youth become involved with social justice and activism. She also assisted the church in becoming a welcoming congregation to all.  Lisa chaired the Long Island Unitarian Universalist Funding Program Board of Advisors, which provided funding for many grants for children, racial equality, anti-bullying and women’s and immigrant rights.

Lisa’s hard work ethic carried over into her profession at AIG, where she was a manager at age 26. Working in Arbitration and Subrogation, she was comfortable representing her company in courtroom litigation. She was so successful that on several occasions representatives of companies she had defeated called to offer her a position with their company.

Those who knew and loved Lisa will remember her for her sass, sharp wit and at times sarcasm. She was a loving and devoted partner, wife and step-mom as well as an advocate for many.  She touched all she came in contact with and she will be dearly missed.
