James, a long-time resident of the Tampa Area, passed away peacefully in his home on June 3, 2025 surrounded by his wife and family. James was preceded in death by his father, Harmon Stevens, his mother, Lois Stevens Franklin, his brother, Joseph Stevens, Step Father, Warren Franklin, Sister-in-law, Pam Stevens and just last month, his sister, Cathy Turgeon.
James is survived by his loving wife of nearly 33 years, Dorothy McMaster Stevens, sister, Cindy Tozier, brother and sister-in-law, John and Lynda Stevens and brother-in-law, Ed Turgeon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
James served in the United States Navy on the aircraft carrier, the USS Forrestal where he honed many of his natural electrical and mechanical skills and was discharged honorably. He earned an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of South Florida and worked in that capacity until he retired. He and Dorothy had many adventures traveling together before the onset of his illness. He was always “there” for any of his family members and will be greatly missed.
