James Earl Vaughn, 69, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026. James was born on January 30, 1957, in Piggott, Arkansas.
James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence brought laughter, wisdom, and strength to those around him. He shared 48 loving years with his beloved wife, Ruth Vaughn. They shared 28 wonderful years in the home they built together, where countless memories were made with family and friends.
James worked for Adams Fruit Co. for over 20 years, where he became known as a hardworking and dependable man who could do just about anything. Over the years, he worked in landscaping, mechanics, harvesting, and many other trades, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
Shortly before his passing, James gave his life to the Lord, bringing comfort and peace to those who loved him. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved building and racing cars, watching NASCAR, and riding motorcycles with his wife. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his sense of humor, and the love he had for his family.
James is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Vaughn; his children, Tonya Vaughn, James Jr. (Cissy) Vaughn, Cody (Stephanie) Vaughn, and Michael Vaughn; his sisters, Shirley Daugherty and Betty (Gene) Ramsey; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Samantha “Sammie”; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Vaughn and Bobby Vaughn, and his brother, Johnny Vaughn.
A memorial service celebrating James’s life will be held at his home of 28 years. The date and time are currently being determined and will be shared with family and friends soon.
Though he may be gone from our sight, James’s love, stories, laughter, and memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
