Jack B. Cornette, Jr. was born in Hazard, Kentucky on October 17,1951 to the union of Jack B. Cornette and Joyce C. Cornette. He departed this earth on Saturday, October 3, 2026 in Tampa, Florida. He was educated in the Worthington, Ohio Public Schools. He also attended the Columbus College of Art and Design.
While employed at the Southside Settlement Community Center, he taught crafts and ceramics to neighborhood youth and adults. Charismatic and fun-loving, Jack developed a genuine bond with his students. As a gifted artist, he created unique, ceramic figurines that he gifted family members and sold to others. His whimsical, African American Santa Claus sculptures were highly requested commodities.
Jack’s nomadic spirit led him to drive trucks for the circus, where he found his niche and formed lasting friendships within the entertainment community. Though he was far from his family, these friends offered support and assistance whenever he needed it.
Jack tried to just do his best. As with most of us, there were periods when he succeeded and times when he failed. Nevertheless, he persevered through life’s trials and tribulations.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Vikki Scott (Herbert) of New Jersey; his brother, Joel Cornette (Christi) of Ohio; his aunt, Loyce Scott of Ohio; his cousin, Denise E. Scott of Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family extends sincere appreciation and gratitude to the medical staff at the Hanna House Nursing Facility for their genuine concern and professional care of our brother. They were truly a blessing to his life.
A private celebration of life will be held in Hazard, Kentucky for his immediate family.
“There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens. A time to be born and a time to die.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
“Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
Jack will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
