Charles William “Chuck” Nelson, 52, of Valrico, Florida, passed away on June 6, 2026.
Born on July 20, 1973, Charlie was raised in Mechanicville, New York, where he graduated from Mechanicville High School. Throughout his life, he built lasting friendships and touched the lives of many with his generous spirit, loyalty, and sense of humor.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father, William Nelson.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Ava and Maya Nelson; his sister, Corina Nelson; his mother, Deborah Mason; his former wife, Elena; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Charlie filled many roles in many people’s lives—a father, a son, a brother, a friend, or sometimes a couple of those at once, depending on what you needed.
If Charlie was around, you could count on fantastic food, plenty of laughter, and never leaving hungry. He loved spending a day by the pool, cheering on the Raiders, and grilling the largest piece of meat he could find. Game days were some of his favorites, and whether the Raiders were winning or losing, he was always cheering them on with the same passion and loyalty. Charlie and the sun were inseparable—if it was shining, chances are he was outside soaking it up. He felt most at home surrounded by family, friends, good food, and a cold drink, making memories with the people he loved most. Some of the best times with Charlie were the simplest ones: sharing a meal, watching a game, and enjoying a good laugh together.
Charlie will be remembered for his generosity, his sense of humor, and the way he made everyone feel welcome.
A visitation and celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on Monday, June 15, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Tampa Cremation & Burial Services, 8109 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Tampa, Florida 33619.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in honor of a loved one.
