Angelo Antonio Correa, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, peacefully passed away at home on February 18, 2025, at 8:10 pm surrounded by his family.  He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Ines Melita Correa (née Gil), his two sons, Richard and Raymond, his grandchildren, Kylie and Anthony, and his step grandson, Arthur.  He was preceded in death by his father, Angel Correa Rubio, and his mother, Amanda Josefa de la Candelaria Correa (née Garcia Miyares).

Angelo was born on June 9, 1936, in Havana, Cuba.  He distinguished himself at an early age as gifted with his hands in crafts and as a star pupil.  He graduated as valedictorian of the prestigious Baldor Academy and then earned a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering as well as a Doctorate in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Havana.  He would later also earn a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.

Angelo worked as a high school teacher and university professor before leaving his beloved homeland in 1967 with his new wife in search of political freedom and a better future.  He lived briefly in Madrid, Spain, before relocating and starting a family in Northern New Jersey.  He worked and distinguished himself as a computer and electrical engineer before retiring to the suburbs of Tampa, Florida, in 2011.

Angelo was known not only for his extraordinary intelligence and skills as a craftsman, but also for his unbending love and devotion to his family and friends.  A Celebration of his Life will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 10:00 am at Saint Leo Abbey Church, 33601 County Road 52, Saint Leo, Florida 33574, with a brunch and reception immediately following the service.   In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
