In Loving Memory of Fernando José Martínez Tamés
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Fernando José Martínez Tamés, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who went to be with the Lord on February 24th, 2026. Fernando was the founder, owner, and president of F.M.T. Dental Studios Inc., in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. As a distinguished Certified Dental Technician (C.D.T.), he was renowned for his precision and attention to detail, transforming countless smiles with his expertly crafted work. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was a mentor, inspiring students and sharing his extensive knowledge and skills. His artistic gifts set a high standard in the field, and his legacy of excellence left an indelible mark on the dental community.
His hobbies included collecting wood carvings and Matchbox cars, engaging in various forms of art, carving hiking sticks, and staying informed about politics. He was also active in the A.A. community, where he formed lifelong friendships.
Fernando loved being in nature, finding joy in camping, hiking, and the warmth of campfires, where he celebrated life’s simple pleasures. His love for the environment reflected his adventurous spirit and appreciation for the beauty of the world around him. In his later years, Fernando embraced the great outdoors, hosting in Georgia state parks, where he formed countless cherished friendships that grew into a family he held dear.
Born on November 19, 1944, in Mexico City, Mexico, to Juan Victor Martínez Dávila and María Guadalupe Tamés Machuca (de Martínez), Fernando is survived by his cherished children: Lisa Christopherson (Kurt Christopherson), Jessica Shelpley (Benjamin Shepley), Nick Martinez (Amy Nelson), and Brittany Bianchi. He was a proud grandfather to Damian Bobich, Kallie Christopherson, Anna Christopherson, Makayla Shelpley, Heaven Bianchi, and Mason Shepley. Fernando was also a loving brother to his six siblings: Guadalupe Martínez Tamés (†), María de Lourdes Martínez de Muñiz (spouse Antonio Muñiz †), Magdalena Martínez de Martínez (spouse Guillermo Martínez Krauss †), Gerardo Martínez Tamés (spouse Gabriela Nebreda), Alejandro Martínez Tamés (†), and Ignacio Martínez Tamés (†). He was an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and a great-uncle to many more.
Fernando lived life to the fullest. His spirit was a testament to the beauty of life, reminding us that true happiness comes from the joy of the Lord, regardless of our circumstances. His infectious laughter, unforgettable smile, and comforting presence made every moment feel brighter. He taught us to find joy in small moments, appreciate simplicity, and love without holding back.
His impact extended far beyond his years, as he didn’t just pass through this world; he changed it. His presence, love, and the way he touched so many hearts have made it more beautiful than he found it. He lives on through our memories and forever in our hearts.
