David Alfred LaBrecque March 11, 1947 – July 8, 2025
David Alfred LaBrecque, 78, passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 8, 2025, knowing he was deeply loved and cherished. His warmth, wisdom, and presence will be missed beyond measure. The world feels quieter without him in it.
Our loving, funny and clever father, beloved Pappy, a great big brother, and a staunch friend to so many—put up a good fight. But sadly, this time, he couldn’t MacGyver himself out of this health challenge.
Born on March 11, 1947, in Quincy, MA, David was the oldest of eight children of the late Alfred J. and Louise M. (Smith) LaBrecque. He grew up in Braintree, MA, and graduated from Braintree High School in 1965. He went on to earn both his Bachelor of Science and MBA from Northeastern University. From 1969 to 1975, David proudly served in the Army National Reserve.
David built a distinguished 35-year career in real estate and property management across New England. He began his professional life with Mobil Oil Corporation and went on to become Vice President and General Partner at First Equity Associates, Inc. There, he managed a wide range of residential and commercial properties, oversaw condominium conversions and directed major developments. Later, David transitioned into consulting, independent brokerage, and non–real estate ventures. His professional success was always grounded in integrity, leadership, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
In his later years, David moved to Florida—not for business, but for sunshine, relaxation, and to be closer to his youngest grandchildren. He eventually settled in Dunedin, where he found a new calling at Dunedin Sterling Links. This role allowed him to blend his property management experience, mechanical know-how, marketing savvy, and love of golf. He found not just a job, but a community of dear friends and meaningful connections that enriched his final years.
David is survived by his loving daughters, Tracy Davis and her husband Edmund of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, and Avery Maniscalco and her husband Michael of Tampa, FL. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Charles, Chase, and Cooper Davis; and Parker and Addison Maniscalco. He is also survived by his siblings Arthur LaBrecque and his wife, Mary; Nancy LaBrecque, Julie Faltera and her husband, James, Joseph LaBrecque and his wife, Joan, and Carolyn Pflumio and her husband, Maurice; along with their families.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Louise LaBrecque; his sisters, Joan and Ellen LaBrecque; and his nephew Nathan LaBrecque.
David was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, a generous brother, and a loyal friend. He had a gift for connecting with people, a strong work ethic, and a sense of humor that stayed with him to the end. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he cherished.
Condolences
My condolences to David’s family and friends. I worked with him at the golf range where we shared lots of laughter. He shared my love of golf and I admired him playing the game despite the stubborn pain in his knee. While we will miss him it is comforting that he is out of pain now and in a kingdom not of this world.
David was one of the first guys I met after moving to Dunedin. We talked a lot about family and golf at the driving range. David was kind enough to include me in the regular group every Saturday. Playing with him and the guys was and is the highlight of my week. He was a great guy and I feel I am better for having known him. I miss him dearly.
My brother David was a friend to all, even to those he had not met yet. His kind and welcoming demeanor will be greatly missed as he let everyone be themselves and speak their mind. His love for his two daughters and grandchildren was amazing to witness as he beamed with joy as he spoke of their lives. Davids memory and spirit will live on with all who were fortunate to have known him.
Tracy and Avery I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad. He was so full of love for you and your children every time we spoke. He loved his family and life, I’m sorry his last year was so painful. May you be at peace David.
Love, Little Sis
My condolences to the family and friends of my kind, empathetic and loving Uncle David. It’s been years since our last encounter but I remember him giving a teenage Dan a place to stay and a diner breakfast in Worcester in a time of need. Thank you Uncle David
Uncle David,
I always admired how you were able to achieve so much in your life, and were able to raise such a great family. You always had a humble and positive disposition toward life, no matter what challenges you faced. I will always be grateful for the conversations we’ve had about life throughout the years.
Rest In Peace,
Scott
