Basil “Tom” Thomas Ellis, Jr (68) passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026 at his home in Plant City, Florida surrounded by family.
Tom was born and raised in Boaz, Alabama graduating from Boaz High School in 1975. He served in the Air Force and Air National Guard. He worked in the power supply industry for 49 years beginning with Marshall-DeKalb Electric Coop. Later he worked for the City of Vero Beach as a meter specialist until retiring and becoming a Technical Specialist for Electric Supply and Irby. He was active with the Southeastern Meter School & Conference for many years.
When he wasn’t tinkering with cars or fixing anything that was broken, Tom loved boating, diving, fishing and spending time with family.
Tom is survived by his wife, Pam; son, Jason Ellis (Erin); daughter, Tara Ellis (Justin); brother Tim Ellis (Donna); granddaughters Bailey Hinkle and Kaylee Ellis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Betty Ellis and sister Cynthia Ellis.
